Manufacturing Automation Engineer

About the Role
D2Solar is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to help scale and optimize our specialty solar module production. In this role, you’ll work directly on the manufacturing floor, identifying opportunities to automate processes, improve throughput, increase reliability, and enhance product quality. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to design, implement, and maintain automation systems that make our manufacturing operations faster, more efficient, and more consistent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Design, implement, and optimize automation solutions for equipment, tooling, and process control.
  • Develop, program, and maintain hardware and software systems to increase production throughput and consistency.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to integrate automation into existing manufacturing lines with minimal downtime.
  • Conduct experiments and process trials to validate automation improvements.
    Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related production issues to maintain uptime and product quality.
  • Provide training and documentation for production teams on new systems and processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing floor to meet yield, reliability, and safety targets.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing automation, industrial controls, or process engineering.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with automation technologies such as PLC programming, robotics integration, motion control, sensors, and vision systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and address both mechanical and software-related production challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear technical documentation.
  • Comfortable working in a small-team environment and contributing to company growth.
  • Willingness to work on-site in a 9/80 schedule, with some flexibility for hybrid arrangements.
  • Experience in solar, semiconductor, electronics, aerospace, automotive, or similar precision manufacturing industries preferred.
